It has been a long-time tradition for police officers from Springfield Township and the Village of Lakemore to help families in the communities at Christmas time. The departments participate in Fill A Cruiser program which consists of officers collecting new toys, clothing, monetary donations, and nonperishable food items at two locations.
Officers from the Springfield Township Police Department will be manning the Fill A Cruiser booth at Wal-Mart on Arlington Road Nov. 25, 26 and 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Officers from Lakemore will be manning the booth outside of the Dollar General store at the corner of Canton and Sanitarium Roads Nov. 25 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All donations are used by the Springfield Cares organization to give to families in need in the communities. The schools also have food drives to help, and businesses and community members adopt families.
If you are need this season fill out an application at one of the Springfield Schools. To donate call Nancy Rodrigues at 330-322-8999.
The elves of Springfield Cares, the police officers and many others are working to make a brighter holiday season for community members.
