Tragic Shooting Incident Leaves 16-Year-Old in Critical Condition in Springfield Township SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 12-8-2023- Last night, December 7, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Springfield Township Police Department responded to a distress call regarding a shooting incident in the 2300 block of Waterloo Road, Springfield Township. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 16-year-old victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was promptly attended to by the Springfield Township Fire Department and transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The involved parties, both students of the Akron Public Schools, were identified as a 16-year-old victim and a 17-year-old suspect. The 17-year-old was apprehended and is currently facing initial charges for felonious assault. The Springfield Township Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident; therefore, some details are yet to be disclosed to the public.
